Seeking common ground on wind turbines and pylons in rural areas<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0Wednesday 11th March online on Zoom,7 to 9pm (UK time)\u00a0\u2013 this event is FREE of charge<\/strong>https:\/\/buytickets.at\/talkshop1\/2071284<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Wind turbines and their associated infrastructure are a topic of huge debate in communities across the UK and beyond. This workshop aims to breach the divides and find common ground.\u00a0The Win-Win Workout has been developed over the last five years, in 80 events on 30 different topics and planning issues, for example: Intensive poultry units; Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and 20mph speed limits.\u00a0We will begin by identifying three fundamental starting points. (One reason for having three is to avoid the binary yes\/no.)\u00a0\u00a0On the issue of wind turbines and pylons in sparsely populated rural areas, the three starting positions are:<\/strong>\u00a0National need – “The climate crisis is the overriding priority. We have a national duty to generate clean energy for the grid.”\u00a0Stewardship – “These industrial-scale installations and lines of pylons permanently industrialise our wild landscapes and rural vistas.”\u00a0Community benefit – “Rural communities are being used as a resource for urban demand without proper say or fair reward.”\u00a0Once the common ground has been identified, our policy expert,\u00a0Dr Alan Owen<\/a>\u00a0of the Centre for Alternative Technology, will help us work out what policies may be built on that common ground.\u00a0Wednesday 11th March online on Zoom,7 to 9pm (UK time)\u00a0\u2013 this event is <\/strong>
